I'm proud to give you the second version of the Squirrel or Fox? game. This version has fewer cards - making it easier to print-and-play. Here are some of the changes you'll see.
We got rid of penalty points! Now, you want to collect cards. It's no longer a game with one loser, or of elimination. It feels much better to have a winner, especially if there are young players.
Version 1 only asked you to identify the first card in the discard pile. This version asks about other cards as well. Correctly identify two cards and you get to collect one. Answer wrong and another player will get to collect. The questions are very simple, but add some variety and extra challenge to the game. Then again, if you have no idea - guess!
There is now a way to play the game on your own. Play through the deck until all the cards are collected or lost. The fewer you discard, the greater your chances of winning will be.
Going from 53 cards down to 16 is a big jump. We found that there was no need to have so many cards. There are nine foxes and nine squirrels - and that's it! We've stripped away all the complexity and rebuilt it from the ground up.
I want kids to feel like winners - to compete with adults and feel grown up. I want adults to play competitively, without letting the child win. When you win Squirrel or Fox?, you feel like you earned it. When you lose, you feel like it wasn't your fault. It plays quick, with little setup, so you can always try again. I hope you enjoy this one with your loved ones!
